Found shoesthestation.com website had a pair of shoes at 50% off their price (which was about 20% off what I had paid for same pair in store). Since they had a verified PayPal account, I felt secure in making the purchase. Once I noticed the money had been transferred from PayPal account, I logged into the above site to check my order status, which was still Pending. I sent an email requesting the status be updated and a tracking number. This request nor any of the other 4 emails were ever answered. Getting concerned I started to Google the site and found many other buyers just like me. I knew I was duped when I saw my oldest son writing with a "syringe" styled ink-pen (which I immediately took away). I did contact PayPal to open a case and it seems they are going to work with me and refund my money. However, that is NOT enough, someone/something needs to be done about this problem. It seems when we are victims of scams (ie. this example, identify theft), the money lost is not usually the problem. The issue becomes how much TIME & EFFORT you must spend to clear your name presenting the information that is required. Sites like this one (shoesthestation) know that most people won't try to resolve since the time consumed providing proof can be time consuming and is not always worth the effort or people are embarrassed to come forward.
