Tried to rent an apt in nyc. After I send my deposit I received a notice that I did not have the apt. They said they would refund. Eventually they sent a check for more and said i was a mistake asked me to western union the money back to them. I do not cash the fake looking check or send any more money. I have all emails saved.

Thanks for interest in the Property,
This is a 3 bedrooms apartment;
Price for the rent is $150 per night and You are to make advance payment equal 50% of the rental fee is required plus a damage fee of $300 which enable you reserve and secure the apartment for your choosing date.
The advance payment is required before arrival. Note: Damage fee will be refunded back to you. The damage fee is not applied toward rental fee however it is fully refundable on the day of your departure, provided all the amenities in the unit are met.
Amenities includes: Central air conditioning, Wifi internet access, Parking space available for two cars, taxes bills, car park bills, cleaning bills has all been taken care off, high quality towels, linens and dishes, flat screen TV with cable and DVD player, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, Refrigerator, microwave, Ice Maker. Pet Allowed.
9 NIGHT = $1,350
DAMAGE FEE = $300
TOTAL AMOUNT = $1,650
TOTAL DEPOSIT = $975
BALANCE UPON ARRIVAL = $675
PAYMENT METHOD = BANK TRANSFER
What required you to hold the apartment is to make advance payment equal 50% of the rental fee plus the damage fee of $300 which will be refunded back to you on your departure day.
