I contacted a seller on Craigslist on 8/23/2012 to inquire about a boat for sale. Was told that the boat was still for sale and that he was out of town helping plan his daughters wedding and that the transaction would be going through Online Prime Sales www.onlineprimesales.com. Thought it was a scam so I googled the company name and found numerous sites with people saying they were legit and had a great time buying and selling from them. Upon further inspection the URL did not match the legit site, for example there's a forum on www.baseballlnation.net which has great reviews for Online Prime Sales but the actual address for Baseball Nation is www.baseballnation.net Notice the extra L in the above URL. There are numerous sites being spoofed with people providing great reviews. Do not believe them, they're fake.

Long story short, I started the wire transfer on Friday but missed the cutoff to get it complete, called my bank this morning and thank you, they had not processed the transfer. Saved my 4K!

Filed a report with IC3 and the FBI this morning.

Buyer beware, DO NOT EVER purchase a large ticket item without a physical inspection prior to money changing hands.

  • Could you please tell what the difference in the URL was? I am going through a very similar purchase right now, just for an RV instead of a boat. However I didnt catch these complaints and possible scams until after the payment had gone through.

  • Do not send money!!! The differences in the URL's was for example, www.baseballnation.net is the real site they spoofed it to be www.baseballlnation.net same thing for a fishing site, they added an extra i in fishing. Not real and as you can see multiple people have already lost money.

  • Sending the money is too late. I sent it monday and did not find any of these complaints until after the money had cleared. You keep saying the url is slightly different, but how so? If www.onlineprimesales.com is the fake site, what is the correct one?

  • www.onlineprimesales.com is their website. they don't appear to be a legit company. If you google map their address it shows an empty field. Same with their "locations" on their website, each one is a different business. I checked with a couple listed and they have no affiliation with onlineprimesales.com

what i was referring too earlier was, if you google "is online prime sales a scam" numerous sites will pop up with discussion forms and people saying it was really safe and easy, but if you look at the url for those discussion boards the URL is different for the discussion form site, for example the www.baseballlnation.net - there's a forum there with users saying how good online prime sales was, but the real site is actually www.baseballnation.net, someone created a fake site at www.baseballlnation.net to generate good reviews of online prime sales.

I'm sorry to hear that you sent them money, I tried to post this complaint as soon as i discovered the issue. I hope you can get your money back.

Did the seller tell you he was out of town helping with his daughters wedding?

If you cannot get your money back or don't receive your merchandise I'd file a complaint with the Washington Attorney General, IC3, FTC and the FBI.
