The Chevron/GECRB Co. has once again figured out a way to charge consumers more money. I like alot of people get paid once a month and first thing I do is see to it that all my bills are paid... When my bills are recieved I tear off the payment slip and put the bill in my to be shred pile. I finally got to the shreding in August when I discovered to my horro, that my April payment, which was received by them on the third of the month, was posted to March not to April. The closing date of the account was the third of the month, so before closing March they decided to post a newly recieved second payment to March. My next payment of course did not go out til the third of the next month which in their records was late because they didn't recieve the payment for April by the 27th of April. This has of course snowballed each month until I realized what they were doing. I called them, and the refused to reverse the charges or even admit the mistake was caused by the way they posted my payment, not my paying the account. They said that I should have brought this to their attention sooner. I said after doing business with them for years with no problem, I just assumed that they were billing me correctly, my mistake I admit. Bottom line, they did reverse the July fee of $42.82, and then promply put the late fee back on for August. I called again but they refused to "again" reverse the fees. My bill has doubled because of these fees. I promptly closed the account and made certin this months payment did not go out til after the third of this month. Consumers need to realize that this practice is going on and they need to watch their statements vigilantly even if they think they can trust the company they are doing business with. Seniors especially need to be aware, because we already have a hard enought time buying groceries each month. I know I should have noticed this sooner and brought it to their attention in April but did they really believe a payment recieved on the third of a month was another payment for a already paid previous month? Is this how our country treats it's consumers? They should be ashamed.
