First Presbyterian Church of Gibson City, Illinois received an invoice from Yellow US Pages which stated a balance due in the amount of $839.99/Account #A04670128/Invoice #Y 115409875/invoice date 10/29/12. I was asked to look into this as no one remembered having ordered service to be performed by this company. I phoned customer service at (866) 398-3612. I asked for a copy of the signed written contract and was told that there was no contract, but they did have an oral agreement made by Ruth McClure, secretary at First Presbyterian, and offered to play the tape for me. This tape was made via telephone. I declined. I stated that since there was no written contract this invoice was invalid and First Presbyterian would like the account closed with a credit given for the full amount and proof provided of this. I was told this would not happen, the debt would be pursued. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was veheemently told I could not. Eventually, the customer service representative hung up on me. Ms. McClure has no memory of this and has no authority to make such decisions, whether written or oral, for First Presbyterian.

  • We received basically the same, and like you requested an invoice to avoid this(funny how that wasn't recorded), I filed with the BBB and also contacted the FTC Bureau of Consumer Affairs I recommend you do the same since they don't send out a welcome package, or initial invoice. Also if you have the original mail they did send look at the invoice date then compare it to the postmarked date they are about 2 weeks apart, include that with the FTC complaint. We need to show the FTC what they are doing.
