I purchased an extended warranty with
AMT Warranty Corp from Access Warranty for my 2007 Lexus RX-350. This was purchased to cover any cost of the vehicle manual breakdown for a period of 60 months or 100,000 miles. With a little over 60000 miles I had an indication of some thing being wrong with the vehicle on January 7,2013 while driving on I-95 just south of West Palm Beach,FL. The indication I saw was Warning on my speedometer saying check engine. I pulled over as soon as possible from the left lane to the right side shoulder of the road. This took a couple of minutes do to the extreme trafic in a rain storm and at 10:15 in the morning. I shut off the engine and called AAA to tow the vehicle to the nearest dealer which was Lexus of Palm Beach. This was accomplished. I put up the hood of the car so that AAA would see me and at the same time checked the coolant in the container. It was in the proper fill position.
Lexus of Palm Beach informed the warranty company that the failure was with the water pump. The warranty said they would not be responsible for paying for the repair because their paragraph "What is Not Covered" among all kinds of things, such as "Collision", they stuck in the word "Overheating". I tried to explain that was not the cause of the problem, but the effect of the water pump failure. This was a waste of time. They say that it doesn't matter what caused the overheating, they will not cover the repair. It was very evident that their job is to avoid any payouts.
I paid $2,805 and thought I was protected. I am a retired Air Force officer who was on flying status for 27 years, and know about engines, not a senile old person who they can ignore.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer us.
