A college age guy came to my apartment claiming to be selling magazine subscriptions in order to win a trip to the Bahamas. He said the the magazines would go to sick children in the hospital. He claimed to know one of my neighbors (which he didn't actually know he just dropped a name)He made a lot of jokes and was really friendly but he was also very persistent so I gave him $40 just to get him out of my apartment. Unfortunately he wrote my name and address down on a form and had me sign it (giving me a carbon copy). He then put a sticker on my door so that no one else would stop by. Immediately after he left I realized that I had been pretty stupid and that something wasn't quite right so I googled the company and found out about it being a scam. I told my neighbors and we confronted him and had him give us the receipts (I told him he could keep the cash for all I cared, I just wanted the information and signature back) and he got pretty angry--even telling us that we could have our cash back but not the forms but he eventually complied.
