We have been paying our Homeowner's Insurance through our mortgage company on an escrow account. We learned in November 2012, that we had no insurance on our rental property from November 2011 through November 2012, the only reason I found out is because when I requested the policy in writing, we were told there was no insurance on the property. When we ask Ocwen for an explanation, they said Nationwide Insurance which we have had for years refused payment. With Nationwide Insurance on 3-way phone call denied this allegation. So today we received a letter from Ocwen Loan Servicing indicating we requested Standard Guaranty Insurance Company cancel our Policy as of 11/30/2012. We have never requested this nor have we ever heard of Standard Guaranty Insurance until today 02/06/2013. When I called Ocwen to see what this going on, I was advised they took over $3,000.00 out of our escrow account to go back and pay for insurance during the time we did not have homeowner's insurance. I understand this is standard policy, but this is something they created in order to get more money. Why would we pay them money for homeowner's insurance we could have gotten for half the price. They are jacking up our escrow account. And this is probably something they have done with many accounts to get more money. We would like to have them refund our escrow account now.
