I was calling the Franchise Tax Board in California and they came on the line saying I just won a free cruise to the Grand Caymen Islands. All I had to pay was port taxes. It was a small cruise so it seemed legitimate. They immediately sent an email confirming my call and their offer. I gave them the port tax money $59.00 for a $600 cruise. They then tried to add additional offers which seemed excessive and wanted an additional $700.00. They then sent an email confirming all that. What got me suspicious was it seemed too good to be true and they didn't let up lowering the price every time I said no. I had to cancel my credit card # and may have to eat this $118.00. What got me to sign up for this was that they were linked to a government phone number.
