Tyler emailed to ask to buy some artwork from me. Eventually, it came out that he would send money for me and for the shipper, whom I was to pay with the extra funds. I understand this is a common attempt at fraud. I told him I couldn't help him. I am not out any money but wanted this recorded somewhere! Thank you.

  • I got this one too. The first e-mail did not raise my suspicion. "Tyler" mentioned a specific piece he was interested in and asked if it was available and asked for price. I e-mailed back to explain all the terms. The reply I got from 'Tyler' did raise red flags. He wanted two pieces. Then he mentioned being a travelling engineer and working in the Philippines and "my shipper", and asked for my address and phone number. At this point I googled his name and found not one "Tyler Samplasky." Ugh. That was it for me. I knew it was a scam. It's so low for people to try and scam you out of artwork - things you put your heart and soul into.
