I saw an advertisement on TV from this firm that indicated they could modify my home loan to a lower interest rate. At the time I was current with my mortgage firm. During the initial telephone contact, the NLA individual informed me that if I was late or behind on my payments, I had a better chance of a loan modification. In fact, I was told, the further behind, the better and easier the negotiations would be. But to start, I would have to make three consecutive payments of $1000.00 to NLA that would be placed in an escrow account to show my mortgage company that I intended to keep up the payments after the new loan was negotiated and approved. I was sent forms to complete, wrote a hardship letter, submitted everything the NLA asked for. Whenever I called for updates, I was informed that I was not to worry because "I would not lose my home". In more that one conversation and email and FAX, I informed the NLA that I was getting "Yancy" and intended to resume my normal monthly payments, but was then told again, not to do so as it would impede the negotiations. So I did as told. Finally, I started investigating the NLA on my own, thru BBB and GOOGLE. I learned from GOOGLE that I was the victim of a scam. Now, how do I get back on good terms with my mortgage company? I have kept a file of every email, fax, form, etc., that was sent between myself and the NLA.

I am now five months behind and am in direct talks with my mortgage company to try to make up for those missed payments. I know it is really my fault, but I made the ultimate mistake of trusting first and checking later. Has anybody got any suggestions? What can or should I do? Do I have legal recourse? I do need help!!! And, for what it is worth, IF the mortgage will allow me to do so, I can double up on my payments and be caught up by the end of this year.

  • Foreclosure is now almost a certainty. I followed the instructions given to me, even to NOT making any monthly payments until advised by the negotiator to do so. I really would like to be able to get NLA to help me, or get someone help me file appropriate charges to recover my money and original position with my Mortgage company.

I have emailed the address as it appeared on the NLA Web Page....it came back as "undelivered"!! I then tried to call each telephone number I have in my contact emails and the numbers listed in the all references to the NLA. None are operable!! I agree with the sentiments on one complainer that these people should be locked up as soon as possible.....each and every one of them that were/are involved in doing this to us!
