So I posted an ad on Kijiji for a kitten and about an hour later, I got an email from some guy named Henry Frame claiming he had to go to the U.K for knee surgery and he needed a new home for his kittens. He showed me about 6 pictures of Bengal kittens (which I found to be from Google after) which of course I fell in love with. He said he was going to give them for free but the shipping would cost about $240 dollars. After saying I could pay $200, he agreed to pay $40. Henry organised delivery of the kitten through Goldenway International Pet Transporters from Regina, Canada (where he claims to live) to Toronto, where I live. I gave him my name, my address, and phone number. He told me the female cat, Tania would be delivered the next morning. I was contacted by the transport company to pay the flight fees. Turned out I wasn’t able to pay online; I had to go to a Western Union and send money to Amabo Serge Achu. He lives in Limbe, Cameroon. They said to save me money say that I was sending to a friend and not a company and I thought, “Oh how nice, they really want to save me money.” The payment was confirmed later that day and I was sent an email confirming the flight details of Tania, due to arrive in Toronto at 9AM and would be delivered to my house around 10AM-NOON.
As I was waiting, I received another call from the company about an insurance fee which was $750 but would be 95% refundable once I received my kitten. This is where it hit me. I emailed them saying I didn’t have the money, and to cancel the whole thing. As I finally started ignoring the calls from the company, the owner of the dog started texting me non-stop. I replied saying I cancelled. I was being bombarded with phone calls and texts from the company so I changed my phone number. I called my bank to cancel the transfer which I then had to call Western Union. They said the money was already picked up and there was nothing they could do about it. So I am out $200 dollars and no kitten.
