This magazine promotions company continued to call me over and over insisting that I purchase magazines. I told them over and over again that I did not want their magazines and they kept insisting that I had already purchased them and that I was being billed for them. I was exasperated with them and I went so far as to cancel my credit card and was issued another card. Then somehow they were able to link my original card with my new one, and they charged my card with $641.55. I have been on the phone with both my card company and the Direct Promotions people and they have agreed to reduce the charges to $534.00. I agree that I will pay $106.90 for Reader's Digest and the Guidepost magazines.
My complaint is ..; how unscrupulous this company is to try to force a product that I did not want. Are they able to somehow determine the age of the person they're preying on (my age is 76), and how were they able to link the old credit card with my new card and try to force me to purchase the magazines that I kept insisting I did not want. My husband cannot be blamed for purchasing these magazines, he is a victem of Alzheimers, and I know that is was very specific with them when I told them I did not want these magazines.
I hope you can investigate this company, so other peopl won't be victemized.
