i had the same thing. looked into, but did NOT apply for a loan, and now i'm £69.95 worse off. i'm legally entitled to a £65 refund, which they claim will be refunded within 30 days...and here i am almost 4 months on, still waiting, in fact i'm not even being lied to anymore....just plain ignored. (the lies btw were to tell me i had already been refunded and the funds would show in my account after 3-5 days). when i phoned to complain, i was told they...and i quote..."didn't care" and was told "don't argue, it's embarrasing", (lets gloss over the fact it was actually her who was arguing as i initiated the call, and therefore the conversation).i was also told i was stuck in a queue, and they would assure it was done that day (i think they meant "ensure", but they don't seem too bright). it never materialised. when i emailed and asked why i had been lied to (i was NOT about to phone them again, i value my sanity), they started ignoring me....i have heard nothing now for 4 emails in as many weeks. they kept telling me the OFT advises they have 6 months to honour refunds...key word is...advises. as they state in writing they will refund within 30 days, and i apparently agreed to that with an e-signature (how else could they legally take money from me?) then surely the 30 day limit becomes a legally binding contract, and overrules mere "advice" handed out by the OFT. incidentally the OFT say on their website any complaints should be lodged WITHIN 6 months, crucially, BEFORE merrywoods claim of having 6 months to act...i think i trust OFT advice more than merrywood loans.
for the record, as i saw it wasn't on file, their customer services email is...
[email protected]
although i seriously wouldnt bother, apart from to initiate a refund claim. and be prepared for the worst experience you ever had over the phone.
and seriously...good luck getting your money back...you'll need it.
