About one year ago I purchased four tires at Sam's Club and I had no choice, but to buy the tire installation package at $15 a tire, which included a road hazzard warranty. As a consumer the warranty should be an option with a seperate price and not a requirement.

On 7/1/2013, I went into Sam's Club to tell them I had a tire blow out, but there was very little left of the tire. I was not about to enter a major highway and pick up pieces of tire in front of tractor trailers. I was told to bring it in and it would probably be covered. I brought the tire in and was told that since there was no part of the tire with tread they wouldn't honor the warranty. I asked then why did I buy road hazzard insurance? I said that they could make an educated guess based on the fact and the documents present. I bought all four tires at once and the tread depth would be similar. Also, they could check the milage at original purchase and compare to current milage, which was about 20,000 miles. The tirs was a 75,000 mile tire and that should be sufficient evidence to make an educated guess. I asked for a manager who at first was in agreement and told the tire person he had to make a guess about the tire. Then they left the area for a few minutes came back and told me "no."

I needed a tire, so I purchased one and paid full price. Once again I had no choice, but to buy the road hazzard warranty in a group package. I believe the road hazzard warranty should be an option and not a requirement.
