In August, while on the phone with a representative from Protek ID, I overheard my mother, who is 87, giving out her personal account information/debit number and asked what was going on? Who was she giving her personal account information to? I advised against taking out the service, the rep asked to speak with me. She explained the service and again I told my mother that she couldn't afford it and didn't need the service. My mother, agreed not take it, and asked them to cancel it, that she did not want to take out the service.

Today, 10/12 I was looking online at the source of her overdrafts for the last two months. I found that they generated a check from my mother's debit information anyway in the amount of $397.68. This is the source of the overdrafts. Check number ------- in the amount of $397.68.

I called their customer service # and got a person who said i was calling '3rd Party Customer Service', who said that they would forward the message to Protek ID that we didn't want to continue the service. I told him that it shouldn't have been started and that this was fraudulent. He replied that they would contact the company and arrange a refund within 21 days. A company in the business of protecting identity, but that uses a 3rd party customer service seems very unusual to me and I, and my mother think she has been a victim of fraud.

An internet search, which I didn't think to do at the time -- thinking I had nipped this in the bud, revealed these reports of fraud -- on Scambook which I have shown my mother, now. I can find no other information about the company on the internet, which is another strange part of this.
