After several days of problems accessing web sites I often use (work-related), I received a phone call from "Info Tech Line" saying that they had evidence and feedback about serious hacking and invasion of people's privacy, posing serious identity theft threats. When I asked how they knew this, I was told that I had contact with them last year, and they were following up with an alert. I did not remember having contact with them, but was rather desperate for help, and assumed that my memory was at fault. They did seem to "fix" the problem, which involved a credit card charge of $199.99. It was only afterward that I questioned the legitimacy of their "alert." How did they know of this problem? Did they cause it, and then call with an offer to fix it? Are THEY the hackers? When I looked online and saw complaints about them, I realized I had been "taken," and resolved not to respond so naively in the future.

A week later, I got another call from them, saying that they were having a problem with my credit card. I called the credit card company, and was told that there were TWO charges of $199.99, one dated the time they called to inform me of the security alert and offer to provide service, and the second charge dated one week later. I told the credit card company that I thought I had been "scammed," and she recommended that I cancel my account, replace it with a new one, and said she would report the two charges as "fraudulent."

Now I am being harassed with constant phone calls from them, with no identifying information on my caller ID, which reads either "Private Call," or "Out of Area."

I enter this complaint so that others can protect themselves.
