I was contacted numerous times by phone that I was approved for a $3,000 loan. Tbe number that I called was 202-239-6103 and they answered the phone as "GE Capital Bank" and I was put through to a person named Eric Johnson who had a very thick Indian accent. He stated that I needed to go to a Walmart and purchase a MoneyPak card and place $300 on it for "verification" purposes so that they could deposit $3,000 into my checking account. I am not a stupid person, but even intelligent people who become desparate make very bad choices. I did as asked and was asked to provide the confirmation number. After I did that they called back to say they needed another $450 for "medical insurance" and that if I failed to make my monthly $300 payment the insurance would cover their out of pocket. This is when I knew I had been taken and contacted MoneyPak to see how to access my account to see if my money had beenb taken. Of course it was gone so I have requested a copy of the transaction to keep for my records. I called them back to let them know I would be reporting them and they hung up on me, of course.
