I was called by a representative of KBK in forming me that he was from Microsoft and asking me about problems that I was having on my computer. He proceeded to have a tech take over my computer and fix the red alerts that showed after their scan. I gave them a payment of $180 from a seldom used credit card. We contacted the credit card company and stopped payment. We also closed the account and will be issued new cards. We contacted Microsoft who stated that they never call anyone in this way. We had their techs clean our computers of all outside intrusions, and set up security to prevent others from intruding on the computers. They have since contacted us to tell us that they would refund our money back to our account if we are unsatisfied, and please don't contact our bank. With all the addresses and phone numbers that they give, it seems that someone should be able to stop this scam.
