I received a letter in the mail stating that this was a final demand prior to commencing collection proceedings to recover all monies due under the lease agreement and applicable law, including default interest unless I promptly pay the outstanding balance of $1,622.57.

I have never heard from this company before and the first thing I receive is a final demand letter? I called the number listed in the letter to find this relates to a business that was closed in 2004, that was my ex-husband's, for a credit card machine he leased and returned when closing the business down. Of course, he has no record of returning it because any paper work would have removed after seven years lapsed.

Pushpin Holdings LLC buys old lease accounts and sues out of Cook County, IL due to a clause that resides in the county. Lease agreements have a 10 year statute of limitations there and that is why they are filed there.

I asked for a copy of this contract that was never produced. If they are unable to send me a copy of that agreement, how do I know if there is any validity to this claim? The contract would state where Governing Law is, and without seeing the contract, I have no way to know if there any Governing Law language in the contract.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to stop this. I will hire an attorney (Google Pushpin Holdings LLC and you will find plenty of attorneys ready to go after this company) if needed but don't want to have the expense if I have another option.
