An outfit called MobiVillage/Buongiorno somehow got a hold of my mobile number and started surreptitiously billing me a radar-evading £0.825/mo. This has been happening since July and we just caught it in an audit of my phone bills. I called MobiVillage/Buongiorno but got an automated answering system through which I unsubscribed. I then contacted EE, who found another number for Buongiorno. They put me through and I spoke to a rep who explained that fraudulent charges were apparently for some celebrity gossip text service. After I calmly threatened legal action (which I would have been willing to take) Buongiorno's seemingly helpful customer service rep took my name and email address ***scary divulging too much info moment!*** and offered to provide a full refund via Paypal. We'll see if it arrives. I would note, she mentioned that Buongiorno is related to Orange (a statement I haven't checked). If Orange is involved, this is apparently a new type of fraudulent activity that is supported by supposedly "legit" phone companies who may be actively perpetrating the fraud.
