Well, I tried to use my check card from my bank, United Bank, and it came back declined. I called my bank the next day, and they informed me that I had exceeded my spending limit for a week. They showed me there had been $600 in charges on my check card in a wal-mart in San Antonio TX. I have never even been to Texas, so I was shocked, and I went in person to fill out the report.

There had been a balance of $2,000 before the scam, but it showed only $800 in the account. I'm not a math expert, but I was able to tell the bankers that 2,000 minus 600 does not equal 800. It equals 1400. There is 600 dollars missing from the account, and there is nothing in the history that shows why.....they were baffled and confessed that other customers had check card theft.

Okay, I filled out the report, and then, about three weeks later.
I was informed that the investigation was over, and my money had been recovered.
There was only a $136 Investigation fee.

Out of all the mess involved with this practice, that was the most upsetting.
They charged me $136 for their mistake. I have no idea how my card number was stolen, but it was because of their security failure. My card had not been stolen. It was their fault. They had even admitted that their other customers had reported stolen card numbers.

They took $136 from me for their own failures.
