I purchased a Chiappa Model 1892 Alaskan in 45 Long Colt (16") at a gun show in Chantilly VA in September 2013. I got the rifle home, tried to put 45 LC rounds in it, they barely fit and the loading port gate got stuck half in. I did get a couple rounds in and when I tried to cycle them, I had to double pull the lever and the round would either barely fit into the barrel or it would stove-pipe. I tried to break the rifle down (following proper procedures) and it would not come apart. I called the dealer and they told me to contact Chiappa to get the warrant work done. I contacted Chiappa and shipped the rifle. What is troubling is that there seems to be a big mix up in whether this weapon should be in 45LC or 44RM; the salesman said 45LC, the barrel is stamped 45LC, the receipt says 44RM, the website says 44RM as did the person I spoke to but later found it in 45LC. I shipped the rifle and after about 10 days with no feedback or receipt confirmation from Chiappa, I contacted them via email. About a day later I received an email informing me they received the rifle October 28 and that repairs "usually" take between 4 and 6 weeks. I have been waiting patiently, it's been 7 weeks and I've received no feedback. I just sent another email and am waiting. This company is not proactive, their firearms are not cheap, and it appears they don't think much of their customers once a purchase is made.
