I'm a Facebook user in Australia. I saw this sponsored ad on my homepage

"Get 16GB Apple Ipads for $40.88. Limit 1/Customer. Australia only"

When I went to that website, there was no process of ordering the Ipads for that price. When I made an enquiry to the company, they advised quote:

"Hello.
Thank you for contacting Deal Fun.

Please note, the prices you see in an advertisement or any promotional material is an example of the potential selling price.

There isn't a guarantee any item can be purchased at any price.
The iPad may sell for $40.88 and it may sell for less or more. It depends on the competitiveness of the auction.

We do not have any auctions where you can buy an iPad at this price.

We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.
Regards,
Karla, Customer Relations".

Clearly this is deceptive conduct, a breach of terms with Facebook (to advertise one thing but have no intention of carrying through with the advertised price). Nor is there any indiciation that this is an auction house. I have had a few discussions with Dealfun but they are leaving no alternative but to take this further.

Has anyone else had this or similar issues with Dealfun.com?
I noticed that they displayed the same ad over the weekend so it is clearly intentional to mislead the public with their advertising.
If there is an option to load the image (of the ad) onto this site for reference, please let me know.

  • Hello,

Chris here from the Customer Relations team. Always here to help!

We would like to confirm we have no intention of deceiving our customers or putting up false advertisements. This advertisement was based on an actual iPad being sold at that price. Also, once you click through the advertisement, in our sign up pages we have clearly specified this is an auction based system.

In any case, if you are not satisfied kindly let me know your username / Email ID here and I can assist you. We have a very pro-consumer policy and would like to assure you you will be very happy with the response.

We take pride in our customer service levels. Our team is available around the clock and we are always here to help. Customer satisfaction is our main goal, and we go the extra mile to ensure our customers are happy.

    Most Sincerely.

you are intentionally misleading the public. The ad says quote:
"Get 16GB Apple ipads for $40.88." PERIOD
It does NOT say "based on an actual iPad being sold at that price"
Are you going to sell at aus$40.88 or are you happy for this issue to be taken further?

checked my facebook this morning. You are still advertising the above for $40.88. So, do you still stand by your statement
"We would like to confirm we have no intention of deceiving our customers or putting up false advertisements. This advertisement was based on an actual iPad being sold at that price".
There is nowhere on today's ad that states that the price is "based on an actual iPad being sold at that price"
You are dilberately misleading the public.

So to that effect, I'm am still expecting Dealfun to sell iPads to the Australian market for aus$40.88.
