www.1800registry.com is a website to give a wedding gift. While the service presents itself as free, it provides unclear guidance as to the method of payment. They treat the transaction as a cash advance on your credit card. In my case, this cost an unexpected $10.00. The web site does not clearly state in the published merchant agreement that the site uses a cash advance from your credit card. Instead, it leads you to believe that you are purchasing a gift ... certificate. Total ripoff. No value to either a wedding guest or couple getting married.

That said, at one time our processor was processing credit card transactions as a cash advance, affecting a small number of customers. Those who contacted us about the charge were immediately recompensed and our processor has since corrected this processing issue.

If your credit card company charges you fees and interest for a cash advance, I encourage you to contact 1-800-registry.
I contacted 1-800-Registry. When I provided documentation showing the fees and interest charges, the sent me a check to reimburse me. The issue has been resolved to my satisfaction. -
