About a year ago, I took a phone call from a lady who was simply "updating" their records for a free online ad for us. I went along with it since there was no apparent catch.
Last summer, my business recieved a phone call from a person who spoke with my manage; he asked her several questions that she answered very enthusiastic "yes" answers to (is the business located at such and such...etc...).
Later last summer I recieved a phone call from a "collection" agent representing yellowbook. They played me this obviously doctored audio of my manager cheerfully approving an expensive advertising deal...which i thought was very odd since my staff knows not to make such decisions.
After having looked online and seeing several similar complaints I rested at ease and called them back...telling "David" that i wouldnt be sending them any money since it was a scam.
Around November 1, I began getting phone calls from "CC Recovery 1940 Duke St. Alexandria Va (a mail drop address).
"Shawn Chase". a very polite, determined young man with a thick accent was my "collector".
Shawn and I have had several conversations. he always threatens to "bad credit you". I have not backed down with him, and as a matter of fact have gone on the offensive. I filed a report with the BBB, and the FTC is looking into the matter. The FBI is well aware of this organization as well.
The last conversation I had with Shawn from CC recovery was yesterday. I told him just how I felt about him, their organization, and what he could do with his 'contract" that their "legal department" had deemed was valid. He told me he was closing my case and would "bad credit" me.
These people are cowards. Thats what i told him as well. They hide behind fake mail addresses and call from blocked numbers.
If anyone out there has more information as to the true identities of the people involved I would appreciate hearing from you.
