First received a postcard with a promise of a complimentary cruise up to 7 days for attending a sales presentation. Intrigued, my wife & I signed up for the presentation and after a very convincing video and spokesperson presentation, we decided we wanted to purchase a program through World Travel Services and also have them help sell our 3 timeshares. We were advised there was a 5 day cooling off period, but also we were slightly concerned that we would not get any access to their website and travel services for nearly 2 weeks! They assured us that we would not be disappointed with their services and awesome pricing for vacation getaways and other services, so in good faith we signed the contract. Nearly two weeks later, we receive the user ID access and password and upon logging in, we could not find anything remotely presented in travel destinations and services that were promised! We ended calling a live person at the Long Beach office and requested quotes on two vacation destinations. The prices came back outrageously high and nowhere near their contracted pricing that we were given in writing and verbally! My wife and I felt we were scammed, and asked to get out of this contract but were repeatedly rebuffed by the sales people over the phone. It even turned quite heated as they were quite rude. We also found out prior to this exchange that the "complimentary" cruise was anything but. We would have to send in $248 just to cover part of the costs of the cruise and it was non-refundable if they couldn't book a cruise that you wanted! We did not send in the money! Anyway, World Travel has refused to give our money back so we turned to my credit card company, American Express to help us. We gave them all the detailed documentation on what happened, but when American Express contacts World Travel Services, they spin their story around and make us look like we are lying! American Express chooses not to back us up on this despite the main fact that the 5 day cooling off period is the key...we couldn't cancel out within this time period because we were not given any access to World Travel Services website or services! We need help! Thank you.
