went in for a tune up they said they would call with a estimate. i called them after 3 hours and they said the mechanic just got back with it and with a very needing voice said i needed sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, and a fuel filter. i said how much? he said he would call right back.. he called back and said that he wasn't sure what plugs i wanted but with the plugs he picked the total came out to $167. I said ok. so we hung up. i called right back pretty much as soon as we hung up and i asked again that $167 was for those 3 things plugs, wires and fuel filter correct, he said yes. i said just want to make sure ok but can u do it buy 3pm? he said that is kinda quick but we will get it done. so at 3pm i just went there and the car was done. so the total came to $128 but i had a $10 off coupon so the total was $118.42 i said wow less then what i was quoted. so i paid and got the receipt back and they ONLY DID THE PLUGS! I said "wait"... u did just the plugs??? 4 plugs for $128? I said no he said the mechanic said i needed plugs, wires and a fuel filter. he told me that he put "glow plugs" in a toyota corolla, a gas model, glow plugs are for diesel engines....they are 100,000 mile plugs??? he then said that the wires are part of some system so they don't need to be changed either. and the fuel filter is in the fuel pump so it doesn't need to be changed??? ok so when i talked to cezar he tells me the mechanic that supposly looked at my car to make it run better i needed plugs, wires, and a fuel filter. so i went to a toyota dealership to inquire about this stuff and they were shocked what i told them... glow plugs are in diesel engines, that i already knew, the plug wires can be changed easy, and the fuel filter is actually in the gas tank not the pump and it is a life long filter.... so if the mechanic actually looked at my car wouldn't he have know this? my car had a 75,000 mile tune up on it so the plugs that were in there only had 15,000 miles on them. they too were 100,000 plugs. i was in a hurry so i couldn't stay and fight it so i wrote the corporate office....never heard back from them. i feel i was lied to and just taken to make a buck. car runs exactly the same as it did when i brought it in.
