Claimed to be a private buyer using e-mail

I am trying to sell an item on craigslist. A Jessica Cole e-mails me and says she will buy it as a gift for her son. I e-mail her back and confirm. She then says she is a marine engineer at sea nad cannot pay shipping from online banking only through western union. she claims she deposited the asking price and all western union fees and shipping charges in my paypal account. So I go ahead and wire the money to the pickup agent a Malcolm butler in Richmond VA. after this is complete she comes back to me by e-mail and says now she needs $1700.00 for insurance. I said no. She replys that paypal will not give me any money until I send more for shipping I start doing some phone calling because talking to a computer just dosen't work in this type of case. It was a scam, and I'm out $1085.00 USD.
