Some time during 2010, I went to a site that offered a free credit report. I had the option after thirty days (for a price) to get a credit report monthly. I chose not to.

On Februrary 12, 2012, I received a notice from my bank informing me that I had been charged $22.00 for insufficient funds. I went to the bank to challenge this report. That is when the teller showed me where some company called protect my ID had made two withdrawals from my account on the sixth and tenth of February, 2012. They had been doing this since 2010!

I called the company and told the lady that I had not requested that service, nor did I need it. She asked for my card number, date of birth, mother's maiden name and ssn. She said that since I answered all of the questions correctly, it meant that I had requested that service. I told her that I had only requested a free credit check and want every dime stolen from my account re-deposited. She practically called me a liar and said that the fine print states that there are no refunds.

I am positive that I am not the only one to be taken by these theives. The tactic they use is dispicable. I can only hope more people will speak up against this steering technique and con.

Respectfully,
Larry N. Grimmett
