I received a preapproved credit card application from Credit One. I filled it out, sent it to them, received the credit card, and used it. Approximately, 3 weeks after receiving the card I received a bill from Credit One with 2 charges on my account one for $6.95 which I didn't recognize and one for $75 annual fee. So, I stopped using the card. In the companies literature a dispute must be done in written form. I sent a letter disputing both charges: for the 6.95 charge I asked for futher explanation what this charge was and refused to pay the $75 fee since there was nothing in the literature I had received when I received the preappoved credit card application letter. Also, I sent them copies of that literature. Today I received a phone call informing me I was late with payment and they had applied a late fee. I told them I had sent a letter of dispute and they couldn't apply a late fee without resolution, and I hadn't received a letter in response to my letter disputing the $6.95 and $75. Repeatedly I was asked why I didn't call customer service and had to tell them about their own policy of requiring disputes be in writing. Again and again I was asked this same question and I had to keep reminding them of their own requirement. This became harassing. The company representative said he was there to help and asked why I called. I said I didn't call them, they called me. I asked him to remove the late fee and the annual fee. He said he couldn't. Also, he said I needed to pay the PayPal charges. So I asked him why he called and how he could say he was willing to help me if in fact he couldn't. And I said I hadn't received any billing for the PayPal charges so how could I pay them. Again he said I should handle this with customer service and again I told him of his company's requirement. I think it is obvious why he called since he knew he couldn't resolve anything for me. His intent was to pressure me into making a committment to pay through repeated badgering.
