My Husband had an outstanding college loan (long story...)and this company called him and bugged him and made threats (garnishment, etc.) We got our income tax refund and thought we'd do the right thing and pay it off. We called to pay it off, and settled the charges. The credit card was authorized and the account was paid off. The next day, the account was charged again. We noticed the charge and immediately called the company to ask them to reverse the second authorization. The said they couldn't do what I asked them to do (fax the bank a statement saying that they wouldn't act upon the second authorization), they said they were not able to do that. Even a call to the manager didn't get our account credited right away. We are still not satisfied that our account has been credited. If you owe money to the US department of Education, DO NOT work with this COLLECTION AGENCY SCAM!!!!! Call the Dept of Ed. directly, and don't give up until you speak to a person there.
