Someone contacted me to let me know i had won a $ 500 gift card & to receive he card i had to pay 4.95 shipping and handling charges. I agreed to pay for shipping since i was getting a gift card for walmart; although I was skeptical I gave her my debit card info to receive the gift for an online survey i almost completed; i gave up it was too long and signed offline.
In November this call came in; then she continued to offer me magazines free of charge; at first then i would be billed unless i called to cancel. I did not receive anything in the for weeks; november finished, december finished; and it is almost the end of January. A week ago i received two magazines and was debited a total of $129.30 cents.
I very specifically explained to that lady that I did not want any subscriptions; i clearly stated there would be a problem if they went ahead and send me stuff i did not want; i reiterated that i was not interested but to no avail.
This is totally unacceptable; they are forcing themselves onto peoples bank information without prior authorization. They created a situation at my bank where i am liable for non sufficient fund charges to say the least. It took me about 6 hours nonstop to try and investigated where this company was from. The bank charges are not attached to any phone number and I had to call Mens Journal; give them digital accoutn information on the consignee label; then they referred me to another company named Agora and then that company referred me to RSM. The entire ordeal was very unpleasant time consuming and especially annoying with hold times of up to 30 minutes. I am extremely upset and wish that they stop this illegal scam. It is illegal because I clearly stated i was not interested but the RSM representative continued to forcefully send me magazines that I did not request or agree to purchase.
Sincerely,
Juan F Martinez
