Received letter in Costco envelope which was dated April 17, 2013, Claim No. JD/HGB-0202 Prize Claim/Final Notification for winning the MEGA Lottery conducted in UK held on February 25, 2013 with the ticket serial number. The winnings were listed as $150,000.00. There was a check enclosed in the amount of $3,990.00 drawn on the company, Aires PH. Inc. of San Diego, CA drawn on the Silicon Valley Bank of Santa Clara, CA. The letter outlined the procedure for collecting the winnings and mentioned tax due of $1,995.00 which must be paid directly to the tax agent and could not be deducted from the winnings. The $3,990.00 check could not be endorsed until contact was made to the claim agent, Lloyd Lewis at 1-905-598-5410. It is clear that the taxes would have to be paid by the winner prior to receiving anything, and then, it is clear that there would be no forthcoming prize and the check for $3,990.00 is clearly worthless. It is further clear that this is a scam.
