Received a call that our Grandson was in Madrid. Spain, attending a wedding of a friend's brother. There was champagne involved during the toasting at the wedding. On way back to hotel a women was driving erratically ahead of them & may have slamed on her breaks. Consequently our grandson & friends hit her from behind. Our grandsons nose was broken in two places & cut on chin requireing stitches, supposedly from the airbags. The friend had a broken leg & minor injuries to some others in the car. Since there was the little alcohol involved & they were at fault he had to hire a lawyer, spent night in jail & was in the courts at time of my receiving his call. He needed the money for the lawyer, who apparently was helping them. Money was sent by Western Union. Little over an hour he called back, at my request to let me know iif the money was received. That was the good news that he had received the money & all O.K. in that respect, but he then proceded to tell me of some bad news, which was that he needed more money in the amount of $2,190.00 to cover some expenses on the rented car they were driving. That got me thinking & questioned if it really was a grandson. He had orginally wanted me not to say anything to anyone involving his name & not to call his parents. I did tell him he should, but did agree not say anything to anybody, not even the Western Union person, if questions were asked. He gave me a name & address to send the money to. His name was Peter Hickman, Lawyer, 6113 14th St, Madrid, Spain. I did call his parents, before sending more money & found out that it indeed was not our grandson. When he did not receive more money, he had requested, he called again, on my cellphone, as I requested,as I was going to be away from home. The first call was on our home phone. Anyway. I asked him some personal questions about our family & he could not answer them saying I knew the answers & was just confusing him. He then hung up. I was thankful that I did realize it must be a scam & did not send money a second. Sorry we lost what I sent the first time.
