My wife asked me to buy her some cheap samples of Perfect Radiance and Revita Derm for £2.97 each in January. I agreed, and now I find that they have stolen a further £154.94 from my current account.
My wife received the 'samples' which she has tried. Needless to say, they don't do what is claimed. I tried calling the Helpline that they have on their website. It is a defunct number.
My bank say that they can't report it as fraud because "undoubtedly" within the small print somewhere, I've inadvertantly signed up for recurring direct debit. Apparently, even if I cancel my card (or even the whole bank account) the debits will still occur I will be responsible for paying it.
They said I need to contact the company concerned and ask them to cancel it - which, of course, is futile. So, what my bank seems to be saying is that, if the company fails to respond to my emails (because there is no address to write to or phone number to call), I'll be paying this every month for the rest of my life. Of course, I won't, because I'll go nuclear over the whole damn thing.
The cruel joke to all this is two-fold: This scam is deemed to be legal, so they can't get into trouble for ripping people off; and secondly, the products don't work - they have all the consistency and wrinkle-fighting effect as a tub of goose fat.
Someone needs to stop these shysters.
